The “HOOK-BODY-CTA” Framework
Every successful LinkedIn post follows this fundamental structure to capture attention and direct action.
1. The Hook (First 3 lines)
Your goal is exclusively to stop the scroll and get them to click “see more”.
Rule of thumb: Keep your sentences short. Make a bold claim, ask a provocative question, or state a relatable problem.
2. The Body
Deliver on the promise made in your hook. Formatting is crucial here:
-
Use whitespace: Never post a wall of text. Hit enter twice after every 1-2 sentences.
-
Formatting: Use bullet points, numbered lists, and emojis (sparingly) to break up the text.
-
Value focused: Make sure there is a clear takeaway for the reader.
3. The Call to Action (CTA)
Never leave your audience wondering what to do next. End every post with a clear instruction.
- To drive comments: Ask a specific, easy-to-answer question (“What’s your favorite tool?”)
- To drive profile visits: “Visit my profile for more tips on [topic].”
- To drive leads: “DM me ‘GROW’ if you need help scaling.”
