Degree of Connection

Networking

Definition

Your connections can be 1st Degree, 2nd Degree, or 3rd Degree, representing the distance in your network graph. Profiles beyond 3rd degree are considered ‘out of network’.

Why it matters

Understanding the degree of connection dictates how you can interact with someone—whether you can message them directly for free, or need to send a connection request or InMail.
